A World of Endless Travel Possibilities

ABOUT TANZANIA

Travelers come to Tanzania primarily for safari; indeed, Tanzania is the ultimate African safari destination. With 28% of its land dedicated to national parks and protected reserves, Tanzania is home to an estimated 15,000 lions, a figure four times greater than the nearest contender. An estimated 140,000 elephants find their home in Tanzania, representing approximately one-fifth of the number of elephants found in all of Africa. Tanzania is home to more wild animals than all the existing zoos combined.

A land of wonder and amazement, Tanzania lays claim to Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro at 19,340 feet (5,895 m), and is home to Africa’s deepest and largest lakes (Lake Tanganyika and Lake Victoria), the Ngorongoro Crater (the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera), and the Serengeti, one of the planet’s most famous national parks. Olduvai Gorge, located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, is the site of an archaeological expedition where archaeologists Louis and Mary Leakey discovered ancient hominid fossils dating back 1.75 million years, including the “Nutcracker man” and the remains of Homo Habilis, a direct ancestor of modern man. Footprints created 3.6 three million years ago were found at the nearby site of Laetoli. This area is often referred to as the “cradle of mankind.”

Mostly though, you should come to Tanzania because it is a safe and welcoming place to visit. With its reputation as a peaceful and stable country, you will experience first-hand the friendly and generous spirit of the Tanzanian people. Tanzania’s rich, diverse culture includes over 120 tribes, most with their own language and all with their own customs. This is a country where manners are valued, greetings are friendly and engaging, and optimism is infectious. Make the effort to learn a few words of Kiswahili and to understand their ways, and Tanzanians will welcome you with warmth and affection.

Lastly, you can customize your safari experience to satisfy your budget. You can choose your style of accommodation, everything from basic tent camping to overnight accommodation in a luxurious, 5-star lodge or tented camp, and everything in between.

From the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro to the shores of the Indian Ocean, from the endless plains of the Serengeti to the depths of the floor of Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania provides the backdrop of a scenic and breathtaking landscape.
Tanzania has some of the best wildlife viewing in all of Africa.
The Tanzanian people are warm, generous, and peaceful. Indeed, many a visitor to Tanzania has proclaimed that they came for the wildlife but fell in love with her people.
